A Brief History
The
Atlanta Branch of AAUW started holding an annual book fair in 1960.
That year the fair was in a tent on the open-air upper level of the
brand new Lenox Square Mall. In 1973 the book fair moved into Lenox's
newly enclosed, air-conditioned mall. In 1997 the book fair became a
cooperative effort of the three branches in metro Atlanta:
Atlanta Branch
Cobb County Branch
Roswell-Alpharetta Branch
The Fair
All
books sold at the fair are donated and all sorting, pricing and sales
are accomplished by member volunteers.
The Atlanta
Branch uses the proceeds to fund:
AAUW
Educational Foundation
AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund
Local Undergraduate Scholarships
Community Action Grants and Programs
